Environment Impact
Brisil strongly believes in developing the technologies which can have the positive impact on environment & society. The technology and the silica produced from it have many environment-related benefits. Some of the positives of the technology are as follows.Rice husk is a biomass and a form of a clean fuel. Utilization of rice husk as a fuel for power generation results in saving the significant amount of GHG as compared to other conventional fuels. Each ton of husk gasified can save about 1 ton of greenhouse gas emissions (CO2) compared to non-renewable fuels.
Precipitated silica is currently produced using sand as a base material. This process requires a high temperature of around 1500 C, in comparison, our process requires significantly lesser temperature. The low energy required in the process results in saving of around 4000 MJ per ton of silica produced, which is saving of 20% of the energy used in the existing process, making our process very energy efficient.
Using highly dispersible silica in tires can results in reducing the rolling resistance of tires, resulting in the reduction of fuel consumption by 7% and reducing the greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles by 7%.
The technology uses rice husk ash as a base material for silica production. Due to zero commercial value as of now, it is dumped in open grounds or landfilled. The ash is a very light material (density 250 Kg/m3) which results in air pollution. Brisil will use the ash and reduce the pollution caused by the ash.
